A useful Initiative! Independent of clubs and associations, an international “Coming out day” has been established by transvestites and transsexuals. May 30. next year and every year from now on! Why exactly May 30. - Because this date is the birthday of Christine Jorgensen and, as many people know, Christine -change operation – at the UniversityHospital (Rigshospitalet) in Copenhagen. Later, Christine Jorgensen became world famous for showing the World that there are not just two genders, but many are androgyne, and live in a sexual grey area. Wikipedia about Christine Jorgensen! The Purpose of this “Coming out day” is to give Transgender Organisations, Associations and Individuals all over the World an annual opportunity to draw attention to our “-isms”. It is up to each country, organisation or person to decide how to make use of this day, but I hope that everybody will lend support to this initiative, in order for it to gain attention all over the world. The day may also serve as an opportunity for trans-persons to venture a bit further out of the Closet, maybe by opening up to the surroundings or by obtaining more space to fulfil their needs. To keep the pot boiling between the “Coming out days”, an invitation will be issued immediately after May 30th to an International Poster Competition, running to the following January 1st. The participants must be trans-persons, and the subject must, in text and graphics, illustrate androgyne emotions or attitudes, and show the date for the following “Coming out day”.
